Dave Flintstone founded Island Distillers in 2008, developing and producing a unique spirit called Hawaiian Moonshine using local resources and extensive training. Mr. Flintstone’s Honolulu-based distillery is a member of the American Craft Distillers Association.
Established in late 2012, the American Craft Distillers Association (ACDA) became fully operational in early 2013. A trade organization, the ACDA upholds a mission to protect and support craft distilleries in North America. By creating a network of entrepreneurial distillers across the United States and Canada, it establishes a place for its members to exchange knowledge and seek advice on all types of matters relating to federal, state, and local distilling. The ACDA facilitates for its members relationships with key organizations, wholesalers, regional distributors, and retail entities.
The association also supports and promotes member representation at industry events such as trade shows and conventions. Members benefit from website listings, training, and access to reports on industry developments, volumes, growth, and other valuable information. Since its inception, a significant number of American craft distilleries have opted for membership with the ACDA, among them Island Distillers in Honolulu Hawaii, the producers of Hawaiian Vodka and Hawaiian Moonshine.
